Five Ways to Spend your Valentine’s Day 2022

Some may say it’s cliché, some may say it’s overrated and an outdated tradition, but fresh bouquets of red roses, creamy chocolates, heart-shaped balloons and restaurants full of couples are going to be seen everywhere on 14th February.

The list of activities that can be enjoyed on Valentine’s is endless. But it doesn’t matter what you decide to do on Valentine’s Day, as long as you and your partner have a great time. Here are five ideas for how to spend your Valentine’s Day:

Picnic: Although it’s true that the temperature isn’t the best in February, if the day is bright – and provided you’re wearing the appropriate clothes – a picnic could be the perfect date for Valentine’s Day. The leafy forests that surround the town, the small bay of Morecambe, or the lovely spots hidden around Williamson Park are some of the prettiest places to spend some quality time on this special day.

Fancy restaurant: One of the most common Valentine’s Day plans is to go to a fancy restaurant. The size of Lancaster doesn’t allow for a wide number of restaurants, but it definitively has some places that are perfect for the occasion. The lovely wooden tables set next to the windows in ‘Bella Italia’ or the flavourful and diverse Indian cuisine from Bombay Balti make for the most romantic spots in Lancaster.

Make playlists for each other: The romantic mixtapes couples made each other a few decades ago haven’t gone out of style. Although the methods might have changed and nowadays an actual tape may not be necessary, time spent to collect those special love songs for that one special person is still a classic. A playlist of your partner’s favourite songs could be the perfect gift for them to think of you every time they listen to it.

Bake together: Delicious muffins, brownies that make your mouth water or melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip cookies don’t take long to bake. If going out isn’t your preferred choice, baking it’s a fun way to share some fun quality time together at home.

Live music: There’s nothing more sophisticated than enjoying a few drinks whilst listening to live music. It doesn’t matter whether it is jazz, Spanish or classic, the important thing is to enjoy each other’s company, and maybe even venture out to the dance floor.

Everybody knows that spending time together is the greatest present that can be given and received at any time of the year, but Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to remind them how much they mean to you and spend some quality time together despite the chaos of University life.
